Our competitive varsity cheerleading was able to collect a third place victory at  Easterns Cheer and Dance competition.

Thanks to their Rough Rider spirit and pointed feet, they are moving on to OIA.

The fact that they had a rough preseason helped to drive their desire for a prosperous competitive season, and they sure did make a comeback.

To prepare for this influential event, “ We would practice two times a week and had private [lessons],” says senior Marisa Andres.

A usual practice would consist of a warm up, stretching, jumps, stunts, tumbling, and a run through of the routine.

“We worked hard as a team, and hit all our stunts,” says Junior Laura Dias, when asked why their team was successful.

One of their signature moves is a  round-off back tuck. This is a stunt that most people are not able to execute, however, “ It was a breeze,” senior Taylor Chang expressed.

“At OIA I hope to be clean and sharp, with lots of energy,” says senior Marisa Andres.
